Machu Picchu

Take a cruise down Peru’s Amazon River, deep into the rainforest and jungle and the Pacaya Samiria Reserve on the first luxury expedition vessel ever to cruise the amazon and its tributaries. Step into one of the most remote, least visited areas in the world - in 5 star accommodations.

Machu Picchu

Ancient and intoxicating, the allure and mystery of ancient valleys and soaring peaks shrouded in seemingly impenetrable clouds offer a stark contrast to the vibrant and steamy world of the Amazon. Any person who has ever been to Peru will tell you they fell in love; the vibrant colors and the mystique of South America come alive in this dramatic country of contrasts.

Machu Picchu has been described as one of the most dramatic man-made structures ever created and it is certainly one of the most celebrated and beautiful. The setting is sublime with steep forested hills rising all around Machu Picchu's restored ruins - a seemingly endless wispy cloud clinging to its ancient walls. Machu Picchu was probably abandoned before the Spanish conquest and so was one of the only major Inca sites to escape destruction. It wasn’t until 1911 that the fabled explorer Hiram Bingham discovered it, buried deep in the jungle. The journey to get there can be as adventurous and active or as luxurious as you choose it to be. By foot or by train the exploration is worth every minute to be able to stroll around the steep terraces, the ancient temples and  ceremonial layers.
Peru is also a superb destination for nature lovers; the impenetrable cloud and rainforest carves a swathe through the north and east of the country and is full of naughty monkeys, ridiculously large insects and jewel-bright birds. It is a place of great expectations and few disappointments! Explore the jungles brimming with life from an elevated jungle lodge or from the spanking new deck of one of the most awesome jungle boats!

This enormous wonderland of nature is brimming with life everywhere, from the butterflies in brilliant shades, animated animals which cling to boughs and branches, to the slinky caimans casting furtive glances from the river banks. Peru may boast archaeological wonders and a seemingly impenetrable jungle, but its real treasure are its people who bring the story to life!
